How long can you hide your love?

Foxy O’Malley has watched as others found their true loves. Her patience was running thin, working alongside the man that was meant for her. After receiving an anonymous gift, she boldly makes the first move.

Menot Talbit moved into the city to prepare for the rest of the clan. When he started working at Heads N’ Tails he had no idea he would find his mate. The only problem is he was warned to stay away or lose his job.

After customers start disappearing, detectives suspect Foxy is behind it all. When she doesn't come in for her shift, it's up to Menot to prove them wrong.

“You’re going to enjoy working here. It’s the best club in the city.” Ronan opened the door to Heads N’ Tails.

Before entering, Menot looked up at the tall skyscraper. The thirty-eight-floor building looked endless as it reached into the clouds.

“I haven’t gotten the job, yet. Which level is the club on?”

“All of them. Each floor is different, though some levels do have rooms for overnight guests.” Ronan walked over to the front desk in the lobby. “You have to sign in each time you come in the building but once you get your membership card it goes faster. I think they have a different entrance for staff.” He pulled out a membership card and handed it to the woman behind the desk. She swiped his card and they signed in.

“Have a good night Mr. Styles,” the woman spoke to Ronan.

  “Thanks, Tyra,” Ronan said.

Menot followed Ronan to the elevator. He moved to the city to get everything ready for the clan of bears coming next month. He was in charge of scouting and prepping. With Ronan’s services, he was able to secure houses for the group. Now, he just needed employment, entertainment, and a spot to roam. Which is why he agreed to come with Ronan to Heads N’ Tails. It wasn’t guaranteed employment, but Ronan said he could get him in to meet Tony. Menot watched as Ronan selected the ninth floor.

“The restaurant on eighteen is excellent,” Ronan commented.

“What’s on the ninth?” Menot asked just as the elevator began to move.

“Just your basic club. It’s a good place to have a drink, listen to a good band, and dance with the ladies,” Ronan said when the elevator came to a stop.

The elevator door slid open and for the first time since stepping into the building, Menot could tell it was a club. The music, though muffled, still blared through the massive doors in front of them. Ronan opened the door, revealing the enormous club. With multiple bars on different sides of the room, a huge dance floor, and huge stage, it was easily the biggest club Menot had ever seen. He followed Ronan to what appeared to be the main bar set at the back of the room. Two female bartenders poured drinks for customers.

“Tony,” Ronan called out to the man opening the door behind the bar. He ushered another man through the door and looked in their direction. He nodded to the man then came over to the bar.

“Ronan, it’s good to see you.” Tony shook Ronan’s hand. “This must be Menot Talbit.” He turned his attention to Menot.

“You have an incredible place here,” Menot commented as he shook Tony’s hand.

“You haven’t seen anything yet.” Tony smiled. “Have a drink, I have a pressing matter at the moment. I’ll be back shortly.” Without saying another word, Tony disappeared through the door behind the bar.

“He won’t take long. Let’s get a drink. Bri hasn’t made it down from the restaurant yet, so I have some time to kill.” Ronan motioned for one of the bartenders.

“Does she work here?” Menot asked, making conversation.

“No, but her best friend does. She likes to have a drink with Annette until I get off work. She’ll meet me down here when she’s done,” Ronan told him.

After Ronan ordered a scotch on the rocks, Menot ordered a bourbon. Drinking before a job interview was not something he would normally do, but since the boss told him to, why not? It’s not like a few drinks could get him drunk, it was just unprofessional. Ronan gave the bartender his membership card. She swiped it and handed it back.

“I could have paid for my drink. I’m new not broke,” Menot commented as they took a seat at one of the tables near the bar.

“I’ll put it on your bill then.” Ronan laughed. “Membership cards are used for everything here. To sign in, to use the elevator, to pay for drinks, to order a room for the night, or any of the other services they provide. Of course, the tips are done in cash. You try to swipe your card on a dancer, and you’ll likely get punched.”

“Got it, no swiping a striper’s ass crack.” Menot grinned as Ronan laughed.

They sipped on their drinks while he waited for Tony to get done with business. Ronan told him more about the club. The club had more shifters than Menot had ever seen in one place at the same time. Where he was from, different species stayed to themselves. His senses were on high alert as people walked by. The two men at the table next to them were an odd mix. Natural born enemies, yet here, they were having drinks as if best friends scoping out chicks together. Menot continued his gaze around the room. One person caught his attention. A lady sat at the end of the bar, looking at him intently. She just looked at him, her head slightly tilted. Her gray hair gave away her age. Though, she didn’t look at him like she was a cougar on the prowl.

“Who’s that woman sitting alone at the bar?” He asked Ronan. Ronan turned toward the bar then back at hi
m with smile.

“That is Gerri Wilder. If you’re not looking for love I’d advise you to stay away from her.” Ronan looked back at Gerri. “Although, I believe she has her sights on you. Don’t worry I was able to hold out for a whole year. She may not find your match right away, but by the look on her face, she wants to.”

“You know one of the reasons I volunteered to come out here was to get away from the nagging females in the clan. They all play mom and gang up on the bachelors.”

“Are there no available females in your clan?” Ronan asked picking up his glass.

“No, we started out as all males. Bachelors roaming the states, we only settled in winter. In time most found their mates and had cubs of their own. There’s still a few of us left. Gerri can sink her paws into one of them when they get here at the end of the month.”

“Let’s see how that works out for you.” Ronan looked passed him and smiled.

“There you are.” A woman with black hair walked up, and wrapped her arms around Ronan.

“Right where I said I’d be.” Ronan kissed her. “Bri, meet Menot. He’s new to the area.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” She shook his hand. “You’ve come to the right place. There’s something for everyone here.” Her arm snaked around Ronan’s. “Honey, I need you to come take care of something before we kick the night off. I got us a room.”

“I figured that much, beautiful.” Ronan planted a kiss on her neck and stood up. “Menot, I’m sorry to rush off but this beauty needs to be tamed. Tony will be out any minute.”

“I’m good, no babysitter needed.” Menot grabbed his drink off the table.

“I’m sure you don’t,” Ronan agreed. “I’ll catch back up with you after a while.”

Ronan and Bri left the table, weaving through the crowd. Menot took the last sip of his bourbon and set the glass on the table. Suddenly, another glass of amber liquid was sat down in front of him.

“I heard this was your preferred choice.” Gerri took a seat across from him.

“So it is.” He held out his hand to her. “I’m Menot.”

“I heard. You have the bartenders all twisted up.” Geri grinned and nodded back toward the bar.

Menot looked over Geri’s shoulder. As the two women poured drinks, they kept looking his way. One winked at him, when he made eye contact. He politely nodded to acknowledge her but he didn’t smile. No since in encouraging her. He was here for a job, not for action.

“What’s wrong?” Gerri asked with a smile. “Not your type?”

“I’m just not looking for a special someone, right now.”

“Everyone is looking for that special someone. You just don’t know it, yet,” Gerri told him.

  “Yeah, well not me.”

“We’ll see. Let me know when you change your mind. I’ll be in the city a few more days.” Gerri looked back as Tony came out from behind closed doors. She pulled a card out of her pocket and handed it to him. “I won’t take up anymore of your time. Have a good night.”

“You, too.” He nodded as she got up from the table.

Menot slipped the card into his pocket. He wasn’t planning on calling, he just didn’t want it on the table when Tony came over to talk business. He watched as Tony came out from behind the bar and headed in his direction. Tony stopped when Gerri walked up to him. Menot couldn’t hear what was said on the count of the club being loud. He turned his attention back to his drink as Tony started walking his way.

“Sorry, it took so long,” Tony apologized as he walked up to the table. “It’s always fun shaking things up around here.”

“Ronan said you were moving employees around. How’s that working out for you?” Menot asked.

“Oh, about as well as can be expected. I don’t know why people just can’t get along. Damon can’t seem to get along with a dancer. She apparently threatened his balls tonight when he came between her and making money. Dancers can be a little temperamental,” Tony explained.

“A little? If you’re talking about a striper then that’s probably an understatement.” Menot laughed. “I’ve dated a few strippers. They’re nuttier than a peanut factory.”

“Then, I hope you like peanuts,” Tony said and waved over at the bartender. “I need a strong man to replace Damon down on level 10. You look capable of keeping trouble from escalating.”

“I’ve been known to keep the peace.” Menot nodded. He was always the one to break up the fights between his brothers. He’d worked security for a few bars before. This wouldn’t be any different.

“Good,” Tony said as the bartender set a round of drinks on the table. “Can you start tomorrow evening?”

“Sure, what time do you need me to be there?”

“Come in at 5:30. Stop by the front desk on your way out and Tyra will give you the work packet. Just fill it out and bring it back when you come tomorrow. Tyra will have your card then.” Tony picked up his fruity cocktail, and looked behind Menot.

“Who do I report to on level 10?” Menot turned to see Gerri.

“I’ll be there,” Tony said. He gave a wave as Gerri left.

“Is cupid trying to find you love, now?” Menot asked.

“She’s already done that.” Tony drank his cocktail. “She brought Annette to Bryan and me. I can’t thank her enough. You should give her a chance.”

“I think I’ll get settled into my house before I start looking for love.”

“When you’re ready, give her a shot. I’m telling you, it will be worth it,” Tony said.

“Does she work here? Is this part of the Heads N’ Tails experience?” he questioned. Tony was the second person to recommend Gerri.

“No.” Tony laughed. “When she’s in town, she swings by to offer her services to those looking for love. If she can bring customers happiness then I’m all for it. It’s good for business.”

“It’s good as long as it’s not my business.”

Tony laughed, taking another sip of his cocktail. Menot didn’t like the sound of Tony’s laugh. Was Gerri going to meddle in his business anyway? Menot couldn’t worry about that. He had too much on his plate as it was. At least this job was at night, so he would be able to get things ready for the others to come.

“Don’t worry, things will be fine,” Tony commented. “We’ll work out all the details when you come in tomorrow. Tonight, enjoy the club. I’ll see you tomorrow. I have some shaking up to do on level 17.”

Tony shook his hand then walked off. He was gone just as quickly as he came. It was the quickest interview Menot had ever had. If you could even call that an interview. As one of the waitresses walked around, he ordered another drink. He prepared a mental list of things left to do while he enjoyed a few drinks.

Foxy let the music take over her body as she danced across the stage. The music fed her soul. It was the one thing in her life she could count on. There was a song for every mood and every situation. When the worst things happened in her life, she could close her eyes and escape into the music.

She wrapped her arm around the pole. Tightening her grip, she flipped her legs in the air and over her head. Her body followed until she was upside down against the pole. Gripping the pole between her thighs, she let go with her arm. Her body was suspended, her bare chest displayed for the audience. Whistles sounded out from the crowd. Pulling her body up, she gripped the pole with her hands and released her legs. She slid down the pole by loosening the grip with her hands. When she reached the stage floor, she arched her back in a seductive pose. Men tossed money onto the stage encouraging her to continued. Her song was coming to an end when a man walked up to the front of the stage.

“Antoine, I didn’t expect to see you here tonight.” Foxy came to the edge of the stage and let him tuck a fifty-dollar bill in her garter.

“I got back early. Come find me when you’re done. I need a table dance from you.”

“You got it.” She smiled and snapped her garter as he let go of the
money.

“I’ll have a shot waiting for you.” Antoine turned and disappeared beyond the lights.

She picked up the rest of the money that was scattered on the stage floor. She snatched up her outfit and rushed off the stage just as the DJ started another song and introduced Passion to the stage. The dressing room was noisy as women got ready for work or were packing up their stuff to leave. Foxy set her tips down at her makeup station. She rummaged through her locker looking for her red outfit. Finding the right one, she slipped on the red mini dress.

After checking her hair and makeup, she straightened her tips out. Stacking it up, she folded it over her garter and stretched a rubber band around it. She finger-brushed her red curly hair once more, and left the dressing room. Antoine was sitting at a table near the center of the club. Two shot glasses sat on the table beside him. As she walked up, he handed her a shot glass. She passed the glass under her nose.

“Tequila?” She asked, knowing the answer already.

“It’s your favorite.” Antoine nodded and placed money on the table.

Foxy tossed back a shot, letting the amber liquid coat her throat. She stood in front of Antoine as the next song began. She could always count on him to get table dances and private dances. He watched her body as she swayed her hips and arched her back. She always watched the customers closely in case they ever tried anything. In three years, Antoine has never tried to touch her. Of course, she’d rip someone’s hand off if they tried. She slowly turned, moving to the music. She leaned her head back. Her long red hair swaying just above her ass. As she turned around, she freed her breast from the confines of her mini dress. She slipped the dress down to her ankles and kicked it into the chair. Antoine’s eyes focused on her breast as she pushed them together with her hands.

“I swear those get more beautiful each time I see them,” Antoine commented.

“They don’t change overnight.” She spun around quickly, whipping her hair in his face.
